Family History is such an absorbing subject that it can easily eat up hour, after hour as one delves through archives, trawls the internet, visits graveyards and studies individual documents. All in a bid to unearth and piece together the echoes of the past; like a jigsaw puzzle where each individual piece is scattered to the winds. I can only delight in the fact that I get to do this for a living, the responsibility of researching and tracing peoples ancestors to put together somebody's family story is of course not to be trivialised; but I derive a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from this process and whilst it is wonderful to be paid to do something you love passionately, the real reward is bringing that story to the present day descendants.
Family History and Genealogy has now become a popular activity thanks to TV shows like 'Who Do You Think You Are' and 'Long Lost Family' and it is wonderful to see and read about individual success in finding out about ancestors; however whilst I would be the first to applaud the activities of the enthusiastic amateur, it is worthy of note that there are many pitfalls for the unwary. Hours, weeks, months of work can be undone, due to wrongly interpreting a document or assuming that something is so. This is where the services of a Professional Genealogist can be invaluable, you can be sure that when I present my findings, I will have rigorously exhausted every avenue to interrogate every document I utilise to confirm its relevance to your family tree. No blind assumptions are made and therefore you can be sure that when you sit down to enjoy your family story, you will be reading your story and not someone else's. I offer packages and also bespoke services, so for example if you're doing your own family history, but you've hit a 'Brick Wall' I could possibly help you to break it down by researching that section for you.
Whichever way you choose to find out about your ancestors, don't delay do it today and enjoy the greatest story you'll ever read!
